Position Overview:
The Sunrise Site Lead (SRSL) is the driving force behind our Sunrise program sites, ensuring that all aspects of service delivery are effective and impactful. In this role, you will lead a team of dedicated Youth Leads and support AmeriCorps members as they engage students in transformative experiences. You’ll build strong partnerships with school personnel, collaborate with campus-based service providers, and engage students and parents in meaningful ways. What You’ll Do:
Site Management:
- Innovate and Implement: Design and deliver before-school programming that opens doors to sustainable career paths. Facilitate academic achievement, create awareness of in-demand job sectors, provide soft skills coaching, and nurture entrepreneurial aspirations.
- Data-Driven Success: Ensure accurate and timely data collection from students and mentors. Maintain digital and physical student files, adhering to strict confidentiality protocols. Complete all required forms, reports, and data entry to maintain program integrity.
- Engaging Environments: Create and maintain an inviting, organized, and fun learning environment that motivates students to succeed.
- Recruitment & Retention: Lead site recruitment activities to maintain high enrollment and retention rates. Use Youth Action Project’s service model to enhance program quality and maximize student impact.
- Partnership Building: Cultivate strong relationships with faculty, staff, and the broader community at your assigned school site. Use strategic data to demonstrate the effectiveness of our programs and secure school support.
- Leadership & Collaboration: As a member of the program leadership team, help set the vision for program implementation. Partner with other after-school providers to develop cohesive plans for service delivery.
- Measure Success: Aim to exceed service partner satisfaction goals as measured by mid-year and end-of-year surveys.
Team Management:
- Lead with Purpose: Manage and coach a team of Youth Leads, embedding Youth Action Project’s mission and values into daily practices.
- Develop Talent: Assist with recruiting, selecting, and training new team members. Provide ongoing support to ensure all team members meet performance standards and uphold YAP and District policies.
- Empower AmeriCorps Members: Regularly observe and coach AmeriCorps members, helping them achieve their service goals and contribute effectively to the program.
- Professional Development: Collaborate with leadership to assess and address your team's professional development needs. Assist with performance evaluations and goal-setting to ensure continuous growth.
- Accountability: Ensure all team members remain accountable through regular check-ins and performance reviews. Meet daily to review service delivery and student outcomes, ensuring the team stays on track.
Additional Duties:
- Project Management: Support leadership in managing designated projects, programs, or grants. In addition to your Sunrise Representative duties, take ownership of at least one grant or program.
- Parent Engagement: Develop workshops and activities that inform and engage parents, enhancing their involvement in the program.
- Event Support: Participate in and help coordinate Youth Action Project events, ensuring they run smoothly.
- Communication & Problem Solving: Maintain open communication with your supervisor to address challenges and prioritize tasks effectively.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is strongly preferred. Experience in a school or youth-support setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, is required. Background in English Language Arts, math, behavior management, after-school programming, or social work is a plus.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in dynamic environments, manage projects, delegate tasks, and achieve goals despite challenges.
- Relational Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships through collaboration. Openness, responsiveness, and understanding are key.
- Conflict Resolution: Skilled at addressing and resolving team conflicts with tact and professionalism.
- Calm Under Pressure: Ability to remain composed and focused in high-pressure situations.
Requirements:
- Flexible Hours: Ability to work flexible hours to meet deadlines and program needs.
- Communication: Strong communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and stakeholders. Must be able to convey accurate information professionally.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation, a valid California Driver's License, and a good driving record are required. Must maintain state-mandated personal automobile insurance.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and project management software.
- Program Hours: Available to work during program hours (shift varies: 7:00 am-11:00 am on Mondays and 7:00 am-10:00 am Tuesday through Friday). Additional hours for training may be required.
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications are required within 30 days of hire. Must pass a TB test and background check upon hiring.
- Bilingual: Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
